Steel is a highly recyclable material that is likely to be used again-and-again over hundreds or thousands of years.
Mileage and Fleet
On an ongoing basis, we aim to keep travel distances of labour and materials to a minimum, whilst monitoring the efficiency of company vehicles.
Recently, we have replaced the majority of our fleet of new vans, which are now both more efficient and have more seats so the amount of CO2 per site operative has been significantly reduced. Our new vans are also fitted with trackers to assess whether each vehicle being driven economically.
Solvent Management Plan
Robinson maintains a strict solvent management plan, to continuously assess paint usage, solids applied and volatile organic compounds (VOC) consumption against environmental limits established by the environment agency and local council.
If target emissions are exceeded as defined in PG6/23 2014 standard, Robinson will obtain an environmental permit for its paint shop facility.

Our Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) incorporates environmental risks which are site specific.
Robinson is a registered Upper Tier Waste Carrier which allows us to transfer waste generated on construction sites back to our head office in Derby for sorting, reuse and recycling. Where this is not practicable, we employ specialist waste contractors who have been vetted and selected from our approved contractor list.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
During 2018, we plan to establish a documented Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned to the ISO 14001 standard .
