On the 27th July a group of staff will be hiking up Mount Snowdon in support of MIND, the mental health charity. This won’t be your run of the mill stroll up a Welsh mountain; this will be a trek with a difference! We are hauling a beam up there with us which will also showcase our processing capabilities!
The team will be following the PYG Trail which is a really popular path with a rugged landscape and stunning mountain scenery.
Why are we doing it?
- Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem every year.
- Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45. However, male site workers are three times more likely to take their own lives than the average UK male.
- Suicide kills more construction workers than falls.
- Depression and anxiety have overtaken musculoskeletal disorders in the construction sector.
These are just a few of the shocking mental health statistics and it is a reminder of the difficulties faced by many working in the construction industry and all other walks of everyday life. Therefore as a business we want to acknowledge these statistics and be part of the effort to minimize these numbers one step at a time.
The mountaineers will be Ashley Robinson, Lydia Robinson, Fergus O’Brien, Leigh Hardy, Dan Johnson, Alex Johnson, Jade McGibbon, Vicki Ball and Mandy Daglish.
To make the challenge a success, we are looking for as much support as possible. Whether big or small, we hope that you can help us raise as much money as possible. Please follow the link below to our JustGiving page .
