As well as running Newark Livestock Market, the Gascoines Group also farms in its own right, running two farms – Mill Farm, Upton, Nottinghamshire and Rudda Farm, Staintondale, near Scarborough.
Utopia Farm required a new cattle building constructing, and a contractor with extensive Agricultural experience as required to overcome the site’s severe and complex slopes of the site and yard levels. With extensive experience within the Agricultural sector, Robinson were the obvious choice.
A new cattle building was constructed adjacent to the existing yard. Due to the severe slope on site and existing yard levels, this made the siting of the building complex.
The building was constructed to allow for the new apron to tie into the existing concrete whilst still giving full access to the handling equipment. A new French drain was also installed to the rear of the building to prevent any flooding issues.
Setting the finished floor level was key to reducing the overall building cost whilst still maintaining functionality from the existing farm layout, the new drain was installed with an oversized pipe to allow for expansion to the farm site in the future.
